NGO Lodges Report On Twitter Insults Against King
KUALA LUMPUR, July 4 (Bernama) -- A police report was lodged today by non-governmental organisation 1Agenda against the owners of two Twitter accounts for allegedly insulting the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
1Agenda president, Zul Azhar Cha said they had insulted and ridiculed the Agong's intelligence following His Majesty's advice on the issue of illegal street demonstrations yesterday.
"It was rude of them to think so low of the Agong...this is a big insult to all Malaysians as His Majesty is the leader of the country and of Muslims," he told Bernama after filing the police report at the Jalan Tun Razak Police Station here Monday.
Yesterday, in a special statement Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidan had advised Malaysians to refrain from holding illegal street demonstrations saying the outcomes of such demonstration brought more bad than good to the country even if held with good intentions.
His Majesty also advised the people not to be too influenced by what was practised in other countries because harmony and stability were important for a country and needs to be defended by all quarters.
